Kindle is the greatest !
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I had a couple of co-workers tell me how much they enjoyed theirs. After I received my kindle I was a believer. The speed of downloads, the volume of books, magazines and etc. is great. It is easy to take anywhere and just as easy to read without the mass of large books or papers. Thanks !!!
Kindle, the good and the bad.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The Kindle was great for reading comfort; good size, print size options, weight was easy to pick up and handle while reading, tons of books to chose.
My only downside to the Kindle was the keyboard. I have used many keyboards over the many years I worked and have two computers I work on now. Did not like the format for Newspapers. Could have used a backlite, too. Also, if you read five or six books a month, it was too expensive at $9.99 a pop.
Dealing with Amazon is so easy even when you make returns.
No back lighting?
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I really wanted to get one of these. Until a friend of mine showed me his. The only time you can use this is in well lit areas. Forget going anyplace with low lighting. I was really surprised by this. How hard would it be to add back lighting to this. This one thing ruins it for me.
Kindle’s the Best
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I received a Kindle for Christmas and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I love the ability to shop for books from home and receive them instantly. My first purchase was James Rollins’ Altar of Eden and was very pleased with how quickly it was shipped to my Kindle and how customer service promptly worked to eliminate the typos. I look forward to many years of enjoyment with my Kindle.
Kindle

My Kindle was a Christmas gift (at my suggestion). My children accuse me of needing to have the latest in electroic gadgets and they find that strange at my age (76). The Kindle is by far my favorite electronic device. I am an avid reader and the Kindle only makes me more so. When I see an interesting reference to a book, I can immediately search and usually purchase it. My Kindle accompanies me everywhere in my purse. I would like a backlit screen to avoid the attached lamp.
LOVE IT
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Did alot of research before finally getting this book reader. What sold it for me was the “limited” web access… I find it excellent, even pictures load up pretty fast so dont be afraid of the “limited” or “expirimental”.
As far as a reader its a lot better then I expected, I figured I would like it but not as much as I have so far (2weeks).
Dont buy one of the other Ebooks, buy a Kindle or at least do your homework, go hold a Sony and look at the difference.
Love it! LOVE IT!
I love it!
I love the way you can look up word definitions at the push of a button. I love it!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I do love my kindle, it’s easy to use and you can find and buy books at the touch of a button. The books are much cheaper for the kindle than in a bookstore. I bought the brand new book by Howie Mandel for just 9.99. I can read longer at a time because the screen is easy on your eyes and you can use a large font which at my age is a wonderful thing! Want to get my kids one when I can afford it
Great Experimental Feature
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
After receiving my Kindle for Christmas this year, I found that I really like to
listen to music while I read. Although this feature is experimental, it works
great for me when using my Kindle is noisy environments such as Bob Evan’s on
Saturday mornings or at home in the living room in the evenings.
I can’t wait for my favorite book author’s next book to hit the market in Kindle format
so I can read it on my new Kindle. At this time, I am reading the Detroit News paper.
This is my way of staying current, even though, they no longer offer a hard copy
of this newspaper to my home on a daily basis.
Please consider keeping this device simple. This device is not in competition with
other devices like the Hero phone. It does not need GPS, e-mail, etc…..
Thanks, Gail
Amazing!

I got this as a Christmas gift this year and absolutely love it! It is so easy to use and handle, especially with a cover, that I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to go back to regular books. I can sip my coffee with one hand while changing the page with the other. I use a slightly larger size font and readability is superb. I’ve ordered the attachable light, but have no problem seeing the screen. Purchased (and free) books download in seconds — I’m never without reading material. And it’s so small and lightweight, I don’t even know it’s in my purse. I was straddling the fence as to whether or not I wanted to try this, but now that I have, I’m thrilled. Great job, Amazon!

I love, love, love my Kindle. It fits in my purse and books are always with you. I read more than one book at a time so they are always with me.

I love it! Still waiting to here if textbooks are easy to use on the Kindle for college, but for a normal reader – it is great!
the best reader that is out there
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
i was a little worried when i saw a few negative comments of this product, you have to admit that this is one of the expensive ones out there and you do not want to get a bad product. But i simply LOVE it (turns out the bad reviews were for the first kindle and not Kindle 2). i am an avid reader and read almost anything and everything. I got this reader so that i could read easily at my convinience and realized that amazon gives thousands of free books for the kindle and also all the bestsellers are less than half the price. Besides these wonderful goodies the product itself is really good, very user friendly, has a paper like look and has its own 3G!!. What more could anyone ask for.
Kindle review
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased the Kindle as a present to myself, although I was a bit leery of an electronic book. I’ve had it for about a month now, and this has been one of my better purchases. It is light, easy to read and carry. I took it to the beach just before Christmas. After turning the wireless off, I read for 4-5 hours a day for seven days. I charged the battery before I left the states, and it lasted the entire time I was out of the country, plus another week after I returned. It is also an excellent item to carry on the plane. I highly recommend this product. I see two downsides, however. 1. It would be nice if it had an expandable memory slot for an SD card. 2. It would be nice if you could share books without having the same account. I bought a Kindle for my wife as well. We both have separate accounts on Amazon. It’s unfortunate that we can’t share books between the two Kindles. Still, those are minor complaints.
Dyslexic tutor review of the Kindle
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
As a tutor of dyslexic students who resist reading I love the potential for my students. The features allow a student to customize the page to his or her reading style- bigger font, less words on a page and for some books text to speech.
As for myself a person over 60, I love the size and weight. Easier to hold, no more hand cramps from holding a book, easier to carry in my purse and wireless internet allows fast access to a new book anywhere any time.
2 problems I have found
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
It would really be nice to have a backlight. Especially since my livingroom is very dark. Also, every so often (and it is getting more often than not) the Kindle will reboot. If I have been reading, I’ve lost all the pages I have read and have to start clicking away to get back where I was. It is very annoying.
Can Kindle connect
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Can Kindle connect with the european market. I think the reader is brilliant.300,000 + books seems quite a lot of reading material – except my first choice of book I searched for wasn’t available in the E format so I ended up buying the paper back! – rather defeats the object of owning a Kindle. Having said that I look forward to more choice as Amazon expands its E Library
Amazon.com lists it books as HARDBACK, PAPERBACK and KINDLE
Amazon.co.uk doesn’t show any Kindle classification
Am I right in presuming that most of the reading material has an American bias, and if so how long will it be before this is balanced is redressed now Kindle is available in the U.K.
Reading again thanks to Kindle!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
After seeing Jeff Bezos on Oprah’s I asked my sons to gift me a Kindle for Mother’s Day, 2009. They said, “but all you read are cookbooks & magazines!” However, they did give it & it has been in a word, FABULOUS. I have read thus far 11 books, sampled several others (great feature), used the newspaper feature while keeping-up with my busy life’s tasks. MUCH less TV watching. It was very helpful for my significant-other last summer. He was battling cancer & while going thru hours of chemo-therapy “borrowed” my Kindle. He has his own now & loves it. It isn’t a perfect device but it comes close.
Desapointed
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I would give it a four stars or even maybe a five, why I didn’t? is for one simple reason.
It’s made in china (and you know how much hasardeous and poor quality of the chinese product)
Kindle 6″
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
So far has been an excellent product. I bought my wife a DX for our anniversary and loved it so much she made me get my own so she could use her’s. Man do we go through the books, about 1 per week, it’s just so darn easy to use and comfortable on the eyes to adjust the print size.Kindle Wireless Reading Device (6″ Display, Global Wireless, Latest Generation)
Great alternative to hard copy
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The Kindle really is great and I am very happy with it!!! All functions work correct. Very clear readable display. Very fast download of bought books. Anyway, here are some ideas for improvement: The front pages of the books/whole magazines should be in color. German books should also be available. Synchronization software with MAC (Apple) should be available soon. The choice of ebooks should be expanded (I miss for example the english ebooks of Diana Gabaldon). There should be a function to go to a special page of the book (for example: go to page 4, go to page 3).
4th Kindle bought for family gifts

Love the Kindle so much. Have bought it for both our son’s and my husband.
Great Product but lack pdf support
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Good quality overall. Excelent using experience and great collection. I only find a little lack in pdf support but surely will improve in the future.
Carry an entire library with you.

I have been enjoying my kindle since Dec. 3,’09. It took awhile to fight the urge to reach up to turn the page but I soon got use to pushing the buttons instead. I like having the ability to go back a ‘page’ if I need to.
The other features I really like are being able to get a sample of a book before buying…the built in dictionary…and being able to shop the kindle book store from my kindle is awesome. The down loads are really fast.
The fact that I can carry up to 1500 books with me is really mind boggling but in this day and age I guess it’s no more than we can expect; the technology is “coming down the pike” at a dizzying speed sometimes!
I bought a leather cover for my kindle, which I recommend, to protect it, and a light for reading in my bed at night without disturbing my husband. I wonder if future kindles will have the ability to ‘back-light’ the page and have an on-off switch for the light?
While I will still pick up a book to read sometimes my kindle hopefully will be with me for a VERY long time. I love it. (I say hopefully ’cause I AM 68 years old and am a lifelong reader. It’s my favorite past time.)
Whats in a Kindle
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Now, I only purchased these kindles just before christmas. I bought one for my wife and she purchased one for me. Because they were both purchased on my account they were tied to my account. After contacting the store it was taken care of in a right timely and friendly manner. My wife and I proceeded to down load books on to the kindles. What fun, we sorta got carried away. We have owned them for about a month now. I have read three books or is it four. My wife has finished one and working on two more. We like the idea of the kindle because we travel a lot in the summer. We go to our cottage, and do boat trips and motorhome trips. We have down loaded books while sitting on Padre Island in TX. We just love it. I told my wife about the kindle last year, (OH,HUM) she did not really listen or seem interested. But just before Christmas a friend of ours (Al), told her about the kindle was she excited. We always agree not to buy anything for each other for Christmas, but my wife knows me (can’t help myself) and said if your going to buy me anything there is only one thing I really want and thats a kindle. Well, that was what I had set on purchasing for her. Her next remark was, I’ll buy you one and you buy me one for Christmas, but lets get them NOW. So thats how we ended up with Kindles, an early Christmas present. One reason for the purchase of the kindles is that when you travel in a motorhome or boat, storage is an issue. I know books do not take up that much space, but space is space. Now we can take as many books as we want, but only carry an item less than the size of a paperback.
Excellent in many ways, but could use improvements all around.
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Some of the Pros:
+ Easy to use with decent navigation, easy buying of books, easy reading…
+ Ergonomic.
+ Comfortable size and weight to hold.
+ Text is easy to read and adjustable (size and number of words per line).
+ Plenty of books to buy. Some free and cheap books available.
+ 3G networks work most places for us (though weak when visiting Phoenix).
+ It was a Christmas gift for my wife and she declared addiction on the second day, but ….. see below
Some of the Cons:
Expense:
- It is an expensive place to hold books.
- Electronic books should be MUCH less expensive over all (no where near retail as they are now):
- Kindle books are cheap and efficient to produce, they are only digital copies after all — they are not printed or shipped. Saving on materials, printing, shipping, plus warehouse/shelf space creates MUCH less cost overhead to the publishers and Amazon.
- Books can not be shared. Usually friends and libraries are happy to share books. Amazon should at least allow a limited number of shares per book!!
- Now nearing 30 days of ownership and my wife is trying to decide between returning Kindle for her old, but much cheaper, reading lifestyle that included sharing books – or – splurging selfishly on her love of reading and her new addiction to Kindle.

I bought the Kindle for myself as a Christmas gift. I have used a Palm PDA for many years and it is a good device for ebooks. I wanted something new and all the reviews pointed me towards the Kindle. I did subscribe to the Chicago Tribune. It gets to my Kindle bright and early and is ready for me to read the paper when I get up and grab my coffee. So far I am not disappointed with my kindle. I also bought the cover, reviewed before. I recommend the kindle.

A bookworm’s point of view
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was skeptical about the Kindle. It looked pretty nifty but I love books. I mean I have been known to clip extra coupons when we are on a budget so I can still afford to buy books (no good libraries where I live).
I got a Kindle for my birthday in early December. A little later that month we discovered that a heating pipe had been leaking steam near one of my book shelves and thus a number of my favorite books got wet and then moldy. I seriously cried. I had some of those books for my whole life and they were my mothers before that.
However, upon searching, I found a lot of the classics I love are on Kindle for FREE! Alice in Wonderland is one example; the entire works of Jane Austen is another.
I love the options and I find it very easy to use. I’m very spoiled now; I’m not sure how I will got back to actually turning pages when pushing a button is so easy. I haven’t really had a problem with accidently turning a page because of where the buttons are. Their sensitivity is such that you can rest your hand on the button while you hold the Kindle and it won’t turn the page until you give a squeeze. Plus I don’t need to worry about the fact that I am out of room on all our current bookshelves and I have no more room for more shelves.
I find a charge lasts for a really long time if I turn the wireless off, which is super easy to use. The display is easy to read. I even played with text to speech a little; it was smoother than I thought it would be for that type of feature.
Over all I’m a very happy with my Kindle. I played with some of the models in book stores and what not that are different and each time I say “my Kindle is way better.”
Great for nursing moms!!!!!!!!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
As a mother of two little ones who nurse, I’ve got to say Kindle has been the best, most wonderful convenience in my entire life. I can use one hand to navigate pages, read reviews, go online, browse books and read for as long as I want. My hand never gets cramped from holding open a book spine like it used to, and I can download so many free kids’ books to read to my girls while they are falling asleep. If I have to lay down with my kids, I can change the direction of the text to suit my needs. It’s so portable that I carry it in my purse and it’s PERFECT for those times that the kids fall asleep in the car and I just chill in the driveway reading. Having the ability to upload audio books is great, too, since I can listen while I cook or drive, although the speakers aren’t that great (very “tinny” sound. Better with ear buds). I’m a busy mom, but thanks to my Kindle, I’ve managed to get more reading in than ever!
Cat’s Meow
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We have 3 Kindle’s in the family now and I expect there will be further purchases soon. The family is spread around the world, Canada, Thailand and Korea but we all like to read and often share the same interest in a book. Our “to read” stack of books goes with us – snugly fitting into the Kindle cover and available on a moments notice. This is a great product!
Kindle Book
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
One of the best products to have been developed in years. No more heavy books to carry around. Easy on eyes to read, easy to download books. Just hope that new technology will not eliminate this product for many years unless updates will be available to the existing product. Perfect for students and avid readers.
