Perfect Shortwave Starter Radio
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I will make this short and sweet. I never owned a shortwave radio and wanted my wife to be able to listen to German radio broadcasts. The radio achieved this right out of the box. I will not be able to rate how this radio stacks up against the competition, but it has done exactly what I purchased it for. All I ask it that Amazon should send the pictured product. The picture indicated the newer S350, but received the older model, but I am still quite satisfied with my purchase. Oh, the local broadcasts in both AM & FM are much easier to pick up and clearer than any other radio in the house. For $99 go ahead and buy it!

Better than expected
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This radio is better than I expected when I bought it for $100.00. It has long battery life and allows you to choose AA or D size batteries with the ease of a selector switch. The radio has a 90 minute timer which is useful, but if you want it to stay on indefinitely, the power button needs to be held down for 3 seconds. The only downfall is that the radio tuning control does have a tendency to move, which forces the listener to keep adjusting the radio every so often.

Fair or excellent depending on usage.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is one of my keeper radios for a couple of reasons. #1, it's the most sensitive radio I've owned on MW. If you like to do some AM DX'ing, this radio is excellent. It's just as good as the "GE Super-Radio". I'm in the NY area, and can pick up AM stations all over the US and Canada. #2, the audio quality is excellent. Battery life is also excellent. As shortwave radio, it has its shortcomings. By design, the radio has an analog tuner with a digital display. This causes the radio to drift, as most analog radios do. Many people think because it has a digital frequency display, that it's a digital tuner. Not so. If drift is going to annoy you, then look elsewhere.

Great Basic Table Radio Is Tops for AM/FM Reception
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
If you're looking for a basic table radio without presets and digital tuning, you would do well to consider the Grundig S350 Deluxe, which I have owned and used for the last 3 years. The S350 will get you best FM performance possible. AM is great also. The speaker is loud and fills a room easily.

The antenna is very long. Make sure you have room to extend the antenna so it doesn't bend by jamming against a wall or a ceiling.

The tendency to drift in the old model of the S350 has been fixed with the new Deluxe model.

You will also like the fact that though the radio is analog, you can see the digital read-out, so you always know what station you're on.

Another outstanding feature is fine-tuning and RF grain so you can filter as much as you need in the event you get AM overloading.

My only complaint about the S350 is really a complaint about all modern radios: They are built of light plastic. Gone are the days of heavy, high-grade radios. But on balance if you are a stickler for AM and FM reception, you will find that you have a reception champion in the S350.

grundig 350 dl
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The grundig 350 is a very impressive radio. Reception is great on all frequencies, and really great on shortwave with just a basic straight wire antenna of aboubt 65 ft.
I would recommend this radio highly to anyone who enjoy's excellent radio reception with ease of use.

Worthless piece of junk
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
AM stations that are clear and clean on my car radio do not come in at all. Even strong FM signals are tinged with static at all times. I have nothing to compare it to for SW. My $50 boom box is a better radio and plays disks too.

Nice Radio
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Much has been improved in the DL verison. The sleep timer can be turned off. Signal lock reduces drifting. After about 30 min. inside I get almost no drift at all. AM is powerful. I live in Peoria,IL and I get stations from New York, California, Florida, and Minnisota and they sound like they're comming from Peoria. The tunning dial on mine is not sloppy like other reviewers have mentioned. Short wave reception is very good and with an external long wire it is excellent. The drawbacks are No SSB, and the wall wart adapter adds quite a bit of noise on the SW bands. I have been very happy with this radio. It reminds me of the old Panasonic Rf-2200

A SW blast from the past
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I started out listening to shortwave radio with a Zenith Trans-Oceanic purchased in 1967. I still have it, but it is no longer in very good working condition. I also use a newer, much smaller portable SW receiver with digital tuning that works well. I couldn't resist this Grundig (black version) because of the styling--it looks like something out of the 50's, except for its digital readout. I really hate radios with nothing but buttons. Give me knobs and switches any day. So this Grundig is right up my alley. It has a very nice tone for a portable, although at its size it really doubles as a table radio. Since it is an analog tuning receiver, the frequency will drift a little. Well, my Trans-Oceanic drifted too, so I don't care--that's part of the radio's charm. And the drift is not a lot--a few kHz or 10 MHz (on FM) here or there after it has been set for an hour or so. Now, this is the DL model (deluxe) that is supposed to have a new frequency lock, but it still drifts, as I say, just a bit. If you can't stand anything other than a rock-solid digital frequency lock, this is not the radio for you. I found the tuning dials (fast and slow) smooth enough and a pleasure to use. Of course, there are no memory sets (no buttons, remember), which some may find annoying. Again, my beloved Trans-Oceanic didn't have any either, and I enjoy searching and tuning for stations. Every time you adjust the tuning dials, the backlight (blue) comes on for about 15 seconds, which is a nice feature. On the old classic Zenith you had to manually switch on the light whenever you wanted to see the analog dial. This Grundig runs either on four D batteries, four AA batteries or on the supplied AC adapter. If I could change things, I would put all the shortwave bands on separate switch positions instead of bunching them into 3 SW selections. And I would make it remember the frequency I was on last, when changing between bands. But those are minor inconveniences, overall. If you like what used to be and think that perhaps the newest designs aren't always the best, this radio may appeal to you.

Radiofan
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The Grundig S350DL is an amazing radio. It can pick distant stations out of interference or adjacent broadcasts. Using its narrow or wide and RF gain controls. You can run for long periods between battery changes with its D cell power. This radio is highly recomended, if you're a radio fan pick one up!

awesome!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I live in an apartment building that has metal cross-beams - and they interfere with the radio signal. I have borrowed radio receivers from friends, but could only hear two AM radio stations, and nothing in the FM... all was just static.
Then I bought this wonderful Grundig, and the reception - AM MW and FM - is crystal clear. The thing is also pleasant to look at, and it is solidly built. I don't do SW, however, so I can't comment on that.
Highly recommend!
